Fritz Hansen × Technics A collaboration in light and sound, previewed at 3daysofdesign 2026

Fritz Hansen and Technics introduce a collaboration that brings together light and sound through two limited editions.

Copenhagen, 10th June 2026 – Fritz Hansen and Technics introduce a collaboration that brings together light and sound through two limited editions: the KAISER idell™ Luxus 6631-T and the Technics SL-40CBT, both presented in a coordinated deep burgundy finish. Grounded in a shared focus on precision and craftsmanship, the collaboration considers how light and sound define the character of a space, where light defines mood, sound evokes emotion, and minimalist design connects both.

Sound and light both change how a space feels without touching its structure. That's what we wanted to explore, two objects with distinct origins that, together, form a setting that is considered and deeply human. – Dario Reicherl, CEO Asia

Music is an art of time. Time flows without form, quietly imprinting itself on our emotions through sound. In this collaboration, light shapes space, and the sound that emerges allows time to be felt, seeking to give rise to an experience that is deeply human. — Ryo Ogasawara, Technics

At the centre of the collaboration are two objects with distinct origins, brought together for the way they relate visually and how they define a space through light and sound. The KAISER idell™ lamp, designed in 1936 by Bauhaus designer Christian Dell, reflects a design approach grounded in precision, proportion and function, and reaches its 90th year in 2026. Alongside it, the Technics SL-40CBT turntable uses the brand’s direct-drive motor system, first introduced in 1970, known for its stable rotation and accurate sound reproduction. Long associated with professional audio environments, Technics is known for its role in shaping how recorded sound is played. Individually, each object establishes its own presence. The lamp defines a contained pool of light, while the turntable introduces sound as a continuous layer within the room. Together, they form a composed setting where light and sound define the atmosphere of the space.

The collaboration is previewed at 3daysofdesign 2026 as part of the Fritz Hansen Sound Club installation. Within the listening bar, the two designs are placed on original Fritz Hansen Bauhaus-style tables drawn from the archive, creating a more focused setting for listening.

The limited editions will launch to market in October 2026. Fritz Hansen will offer 200 lamps across Asia and Europe. The Technics turntable will be offered as a limited edition of up to 300 units, on display at select Fritz Hansen partner stores and available for purchase via Technics’ distribution, including in the US.
